The Study On Mental Disorder Of THE Main Character In A Beautiful Mind : "A Psycoanalitical Analysis"
This reaserch analyzes mental disorder especially Schizophrenia that is suffered by John
Nash in A Beautiful Mind. This reaserch focuses on his condition experiencing negative
and positive symptoms of Schizophrenia. This thesis is using library reaserch which only
takes the data from A Beautiful Mind movie. This research also applies psychoanalytical
analysis. From that movie, the result shows the main character has hallucination,
delusion and disorganized speech or behaviour as positive symptoms and being
unsociable and having no interest in learning as negative symptoms. This thesis also
explains how Nash, the main character, fights his sickness until he gets success in his
career as a mathematician. Besides, ideologically, the text shows that Americans are great
people. It is seen when John Nash sees his hallucinated friends but he ignores them and
he keeps working as mathematicians until he is awarded a nobel prize because of his
great mind.
