ABSTRACT
This research is analyzing the slang utterances used in 21 Jump Street film
which focuses on the types and the functions of slang utterances in the film. The
kind of the research is library research which means that only taking data from 21
Jump Street film. The research applies descriptive method to describe and analyze
the data. There are 65 slang utterances occurs in the film and those are classified
based on the type and the function. Fresh & Creative type has 13 slang utterances,
Flippant type has 9 slang utterances, Imitative has 27 slang utterances, Acronym
has 6 slang utterances and Clipping has 10 slang utterances. The slang utterances
which functions to Initiate Relax Conversation has 23 data, to Humiliate has 4 data,
to Address has 7 data, to Form Intimate Atmosphere 11 data, to Show Impression 4
data, to Show Intimacy 8 data, to Reveal Anger 8 data.
